He just participated in the qualifying race for the World Cup held in IVERDON-LES BAINS (SWITZERLAND), with a very clear objective: to test his new bike and increase his speed to 33 km / h on average in the time trial, equivalent to an improvement on 5 km / h on average compared to last year´s race in Segovia.
Hans traveled to Dresde (Germany) to collect his new bike made on carbon fibre parts, which is a last generation bike to be at the height of competitiveness, and the achievements of our friend.
It was risky to test the bike just before the race, but it was impossible to complete final adjustments like the seat-back which should be made suitable for the driver and fitting perfectly, forming a perfect team with the rider. Light and stable can leverage the efforts of all year training.
Hans told us excited: “ It is incredible to run with it !, it has been phenomenal ! , thank you very much to make this possible ! ”.
He only has half an hour for a little warp up before the World Cup trial time started, and nothing seeming to indicate that during this time impasse a rear wheel were punctured.
It seemed that the race were over for him, even before stated, but his technical team got to work to replace the wheel for the race, and Hans can reach the starting grid on time together with his teammates and opponents.
The circuit was complete flat and he got a straightline speed of 39 Km/h, beating his personal best.
He achieved an average speed of 34.5 Km/h, only 4 minutes begin the world champion. As far from a negligible record in his debut at the circuit, and in this high level competition.
The next day road race began with rain, so in the wet asphalt they should go up and down in a mountain with 10% gradient. The rain was increasing and during last lap Hans drove under a huge shower so he had to take a lot of precautions to avoid going out the road and to suffer an accident.
The Dutch coach said that he has never seen a such hard circuit, 3 laps (48 Km. at total) where Hans gave the best of himself, finishing proud and happy for participating and to be involved with the best of the world, and with his bike so phenomenal.
