12e Rollstuhl Maxi Marathon – Heidelberg Germany

On last July 7th, Hans participated in the 12th Rollstuhl Maxi Marathon race in Heidelberg – Germany.

This is a real high level marathon and only come cyclists with a very good record. At this edition the target of the champions were to run below than 60 minutes for the total Marathon (42,2 km), and they just got it, with an average speed of 42 km/h.

Five cyclists have run below 1 hour and the winner has beat the world record: 58 minutes and 51 seconds.

The race was a total of 45 km. and Hans count that temperatures were more pleasant than in Spain, favoring better times for him. The Han´s target was to finish in 2 hours due to the average speed were around 21 km/h, but he had not luck and temperatures were around 32ºC. Anyhow the times got by Hans were good:

–       42 Km in 1 hour, 41 minutes and 2 seconds

–       45 Km in 1 hour, 47 minutes and 18 seconds

Average speed at 45 Km: 24,8 km/h

Hans was specially excited about this Marathon, because is one of the most popular which are held in this circuit. This current year has participated more than 230 handbikers, between them many champions and the others with a very high level.

Hans finished in a 127th position of all and the number 65 in his category, which are good results, because Hans only have three years in this sport and he only started training in this new current bike just little more than one month ago.

Hans remains an example of perseverance and effort for all of us. We are really proud to share his sporting career.

His next appointment: The half Marathon in Moncofar, on August 4th.
